These Wood Carvings were commissioned by CBMDC in 2005.
Lady Blantyre was given pride of place by her Rock, sadly she rotted away.
The Fish still sits happily at the edge of the far end of Coppice Pond.
(Maybe sometimes looks a bit grumpy!)
You can just see the Monk newly carved at the back of the fish photo above.
The Monk is still scaring people at the far side of the Wood Bottom Pond
(Now more a bog rather than pond)
The Heron and Bullrush still sitting at the edge of the island in Coppice pond.
The Heron has lost some of his body!!
But the bullrushes are still intact.
You may need need binoculars to see the carving clearly as vegetation has grown around it.
The Original Old Father Time.
Sadly he lost his scythe, then was stolen!
The new carving was carved in situ and is still there, minus his long sword.
The Chain.
This amazing carving
was carved from a long tree trunk in one piece!
It has managed to stand the test of time.
Look up in the trees above
the parking area opposite
Coppice pond.
The Spiral still exists.
On the path going up towards the golf course from Lady Blantyre’s Rock, there’s a gate on the right, the carving is there, laid on the ground and showing its age!
These carvings with the ‘Witchcraft’ Theme, were
situated in Betty’s Wood, and have mostly rotted away now.
This Owl hides in the ferns overlooking the bottom car park, if you go along the fenced path towards Betty’s Lodge, half-way up, look to the right.
There are some trails to get to him, just mind your step!
